How to Zero the Z axis using Z Probe
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xgIS_IEX-Y
"Zed probe"
How does it work - When bit touches the plate, it will measure the distance.
"20 mil" = 20 milimeters
Goal - Accuracy, so bit sits exactly on top of material
Build your own probe - 2 pieces of cable (speaker wire) - Corner bracket - 2 Crocodile clips - Dupont connector, or electrical tape
Measure the Z probe
Unscrew the bit, let it drop onto the surface
- Set the Z zero.
- Raise up 20 mm
- Put the Z probe under it
- Jog Z until you can put the Z probe under
- Look at the measurements for Z
Wire up the Z-Probe
- Plug Z probe into Control box
Put wood on CNC bed
- Clamp it down
Put Zed probe on the board
- Clamp it to the bit
Using UGS
- Connect machine
- Jog controls online
- Open Probe module
- Open Probe settings
- Z Menu
- Touch plate thickness
- Reset the Zero
- Click - Initiate the probe
- Remove Z probe
- Click return to Zero
- Should touch top of material
- Load a test file, with a 1 mill pocket
- Confirm the cut
- Use a Z probe on every job

Problems
Shipment
- Aluminum cosmetic damage
- Was supposed to have 20 bits, were missing bits
- A (broken) loose bit was lodged in the machine
Instructions
- Used wrong screws on mounting the spindle, nearly punctured the back-plage
- Issue: Instructions did not mentiom that there were two different sized screws, and I did not notice
- Many typos
- Very helpful "How to wire up the CNC guide" video guide
- Why wasn't this information contained in the manual
- Issue: Couldn't find the cables under the router, so I didn't know what to connect to the gantry

- Using a Spanish keyboard, where is the back-tick button, so I can include code snippets!
